The Atap Renovation Guarantee is available exclusively to property owners who engage Atap.co's verified designer firms after requesting a quote or submitting a direct enquiry to them. Property owners who contact non-approved designer firms directly will not be eligible for this guarantee.

How Much Can I Claim?

Assuming all criteria for a claim are met, Atap guarantees up to RM50,000 or 50% of the contract value.

Scenario A

Contract value: RM200,000
Payment: RM200,000

The designer firm became insolvent and the guarantee protects up to RM50,000, in the event that no renovation work was completed.

Property owner can claim up to RM50,000

Scenario B

Contract value: RM80,000
Payment: RM80,000

The designer firm became insolvent and the guarantee protects up to 50% of the contract value, in the event that no renovation work was completed.

Property owner can claim up to RM40,000

Scenario C

Contract value: RM80,000
Payment: RM80,000

The designer firm became insolvent, but RM30,000 worth of renovation work was done. The guarantee protects up to 50% of the contract value, minus the value of the work done.

Property owner can claim up to RM10,000

Contract value: RM200,000
Payment: RM50,000

The designer firm became insolvent, but RM30,000 worth of renovation work was done. The guarantee protects up to RM50,000, minus the value of the work done.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the guarantee cover?

Payment Protection: Up to RM50,000 of your payments is safeguarded in the event that the verified designer firm you engaged for your renovation project via Atap.co is declared insolvent.

What does the guarantee not cover?

a) Non-Approved Firms: The guarantee applies only to renovation projects entered in contract with Atap.co's pre-approved designer firms.

b) Homeowner Terminations: The guarantee is void if you terminate the contract.

c) Service Refusal: The guarantee is void if you refuse services from the designer firm's appointed agents or contractors.

d) Post-Renovation Issues: The guarantee covers payments paid in conjunction with the main contract, not variation orders or post-renovation issues.

What are the limits to the guarantee?

a) Maximum Payouts: We will make a maximum of five payouts, totaling RM120,000 per year.

b) Guarantee Start Date: The guarantee applies only to renovation projects entered in contract with Atap.co's verified designer firms from 1 September, 2024.

How can I make a claim?

a) Always Try Direct Resolution: Before you proceed with making a claim, we always encourage direct resolution first. Contact the designer firm's representatives to try to resolve the issue directly.

b) Gather Proof: If direct resolution fails, compile correspondence, documents, and evidence for submission. Refer to Clause 3 of the Terms and Conditions for more information.

c) Claim Submission: Download the claim form and submit via the section below with supporting documents, or email the claim form and supporting documents to support@atap.co.

How long is the guarantee valid for?

The guarantee is valid for 180 days from the signing date of the main contract (excluding variation orders). Activate the guarantee by sending the contract to us within 14 days of its signing.
